Extending the IRD research networks to Northern and Eastern Provinces   Excited to share the outcomes of a meeting Prof Sumathipala had with Prof Kumarendran, Professor and Head of the Department of Community Medicine, University of Jaffna, a few weeks ago. It was another groundbreaking discussion on Community Engagement & Involvement (CEI) in research — a truly remarkable collaboration bringing together Sri Lankan expertise with King’s College London and the University of Birmingham.   What makes this special? The incredible web of connections:   * Prof Krishnarajah Nirantharakumar (recently joined King’s, Sri Lankan origin) * Prof Kumaran (University of Jaffna) as Local PI and many other Sri Lankan organisations and institutions * An NIHR-funded research project that survived tough scrutiny during Sri Lanka’s economic crisis * Multiple Sri Lankan professionals, all interconnected through various pathways   This collaboration encompasses:   * Island-wide CEI capacity building * DigiPath comorbid health initiatives * Research ethics & governance frameworks * Digital health innovation   Planning ahead:   * CEI certificate courses — 4 batches annually, 20 participants each * Strengthening partnerships across institutions * Pre-congress workshops during professional colleges’ scientific sessions   IRD – මාධ්‍ය ඒකකය
